I am Janet Wainaina of UKENTV. UKENTV is a media network in UK connecting Kenya with the rest of the world. We promote the Kenyan brand internationally by broadcasting on sky 191 and organising events of Kenyan interest here in UK. We also organise events for Kenyan corporates wanting to access Diaspora. Kenyan government officials visiting the UK are covered by us for broadcast to allow policies and information to reach Kenyans in all areas in Europe who might never be able to access the information. . We mobilise people, advertise and coordinate facilities to allow exhibition to take place. Our promotion extend to film, fashion, music and comedy. We organise concerts,  film screening and fashion shows. Kenya artists,  film makers and designers are regularly exhibiting their work through our association – Kenya Film Club, which we launched in Nairobi december 2010.  2012 highlights include queens Diamond Jubilee, The Kenya President Honourable Mwai Kibaki investment summit and Diaspora Conference, The Kenya Olympics House. We also have worked with barclays bank Kenya launching Barclays bank PINGIT app. Our vision is to have a Kenyan TV station in UK that will connect Diaspora with Kenya and that will showcase content by Kenyan producers. It will be a one stop advertising platform for business in need to reach Diaspora! We are very excited at the prospect of bridging the gap between Kenya and the Diaspora. UKENTV, telling the Kenyan story differently!

She has worked without support to highlight issues of national importance not only for Kenyans in Diaspora, but Africa and without leaving out her residential base UK. That’s what I call media.
